Persons participating in this group will have the opportunity to meet others who have recently experienced the death of a loved one. Often, significant bonds develop among group participants.
During the first session, participants will get acquainted with one another and share about their loved ones’ lives and the losses they have suffered. Participants are encouraged to bring a photo of their loved ones on this first night.
During each of the next four weeks. participants will receive some brief teaching on a particular aspect of grief common to most people. Following time to discuss the topic each evening, group members will have an open forum to speak about their experiences, with group discussion being guided by the facilitator.
The last portion of the final evening will involve a brief and symbolically meaningful closing ritual. Participants can then decide if all, or part of, the group wants to continue meeting on their own in the future, to further build relationships and support one another.
Space is limited to 8 participants.
Cost is $50 per participant for 5 weekly meetings.
